 The electrons bump up against the positively charged walls of the chamber, which has unique cavities constructed into it as they go.

The electrons rush over the cavities, imparting electric energy and pushing the cavities to vibrate at a specific frequency, producing microwave electromagnetic waves.

 These microwaves are delivered into your microwave oven’s main box, where they move back and forth through walls. 

If something is placed inside the microwave oven, it can absorb microwave radiation. A metal with a sharp edge, such as a fork, collects these electrons.

And hence they are moving back and forth; some negatively charged electrons can stay at the sharp edges on one end, and others can stay at the other.

 And because these electrons don’t stay in one place, the cause of their back and forth movement, they can come in contact with each other.

When these same charged electrons meet, they are much at a point they repel each other, which can cause a spark.
