You can count on your LG Dishwasher to not disappoint you. It does quick and quiet work of cleaning your dishes. But if it stops during a wash cycle, that can get rather frustrating. When this happens, call a technician.

Before doing this, you can save yourself the cost of calling a technician and find out why it stopped mid-cycle. It could be an easy fix that would require no technical experience.

Why does your LG dishwasher stop mid-cycle?

If your LG dishwasher stops midway during the wash cycle, it’s often because of a faulty lid latch assembly or a loose lid latch. Other faults cause your LG dishwasher to stop mid-cycle. The thermal fuse might have a loose connection. More complex issues are a damaged electronic control board, a leaky water inlet valve, defective motor assembly, a broken fan, or a dirty chopper blade.

LG Dishwasher Stops Mid Cycle and Beeps?

When your LG dishwasher stops and beeps during the wash cycle, your dishwasher might not be sensing water temperature. This will cause it to stop and shut the functions down.

Your function buttons will become unresponsive, and the machine will start beeping. This is a safety measure your appliance uses to prevent accidents like electrocution.

To reset the dishwasher:

  • Ensure to close the door latch.
  • Sequentially press the buttons, high-temperature wash, and heat dry twice.
  • The diagnostic cycle of the machine will start.
  • Your machine should run as usual now.
  • If this problem persists, some of your components might be faulty.

These faulty components are:

#1. Thermostat

If the water in the dishwasher gets to a particular temperature, the thermostat shuts the heating unit to prevent the component from overheating.

When the thermostat malfunctions, the heating unit will go off too early, making the dishwasher run at a low temperature.

The high temperature dries your dishes faster during the wash cycle. But the cool temperature might stop your cycle midway and keep it from completing.

To check your thermostat efficiency, test its electric continuity with a multimeter. If there is no electricity, your thermostat needs replacement.

To replace the thermostat:

  • Switch off the power source of the dishwasher. Ensure it is not connected.
  • Open the control panel and loosen the screws that hold the thermostat.
  • Test the thermostat with a multimeter to check for electric continuity. If there is no electric current, the thermostat is in critical condition.
  • If you have purchased a new thermostat, remove the old thermostat and replace it with the new one.
  • Place the control panel over your finished work and screw it in tight.
  • Switch on the power source, then test run your dishwasher.

#2. Lid Switch

Though this rarely happens, your dishwasher might stop mid-cycle and blink because of a faulty lid switch.

If your washer’s door switch does not respond well when you close the door,  it needs replacement.

To replace the lid switch assembly:

  • Disconnect the dishwasher from the power outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. Put on protective work gloves.
  • Open the dishwasher door and unscrew the inner and exterior door to access the latch. Keep the separated exterior in a safe place.
  • Unscrew the machine’s control panel, locate the lid latch assembly and take it out of the control panel.
  • Use your phone camera to capture the wiring arrangement of the lid latch. This will make replacing it easier.
  • Detach the wires holding the door latch with a screwdriver.
  • Using the image, you captured earlier, attach the wires to the new lid latch.
  • Insert the door latch onto the control panel and screw its cover back in place.
  • Screw in the exterior door securely.
  • Connect the dishwasher to the power source.
  • Run your washer on a new cycle to ensure your machine runs smoothly.

LG Dishwasher Stopped Mid Cycle No Power?

Dishwasher

If your LG dishwasher stops mid-cycle and the power goes out in your dishwasher, it is usually because of a melted wire harness and a damaged control board.

#1. Melted Wire Harness

It is a group of wires inside the dishwasher that connects the power to components of the dishwasher. Changing the wire harness whenever you change the thermal fuse is advisable.

To replace the wire harness:

  • For safety reasons, disconnect the dishwasher from the power outlet.
  • Detach the panels to access the wire harness.
  • Capture the positions of the old wire harness before taking it out.
  • Replace the old wire harness with a new one.

#2. Defective Control Board

The electronic control board regulates the functions of the dishwasher. If your wire harness is still in good condition, your faulty control board.

If your control board is defective, it might turn off the power of your dishwasher during a wash cycle.

To replace your control board:

  • Disconnect the power source from the dishwasher.
  • Unscrew the control panel to detach it.
  • Pry the thermal fuse attached to the control board with a screwdriver.
  • Disconnect the connectors and press the tabs holding the control board down.
  • Remove the damaged control board and place the new electronic control board.
  • Attach the connector and thermal fuse back in place.
  • Screw in the cover of the control board.
  • Connect the power to the dishwasher and check if the washer runs without stopping.

LG Dishwasher Stopped Mid Cycle Water in Bottom?

If your dishwasher stops mid-cycle and leaves the water at the bottom, it is usually because of a short-circuited thermal fuse.

The thermal fuse detects overheating in the appliance and trips off to protect the dishwasher motor. If the thermal fuse blows, it would need replacement.

A faulty thermal fuse can also be due to:

#1. Leaky Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve pumps water into the dishwasher chamber. If the valve is faulty, water will leak on the electric units and to the bottom of the dishwasher.

In addition, it will cause the fuse to short-circuit. You should call a technician to check the water inlet valve and replace it.

#2. Clogged Filter

If your washer stops mid-cycle, a clogged filter could have short-circuited your thermal fuse.

This is because the filter catches all the food particles, and, over time, the filter can get blocked.

This causes the water to flow towards the bottom of the dishwasher. To clean a clogged filter:

  • Unplug your machine from the power source.
  • Locate your filter. It is usually close to the bottom of the dishwasher.
  • Wash the solid dirt away with hot water and replace it.
  • Always clean large solid pieces of food from the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher for washing.

How To Replace the Dishwasher Thermal Fuse?

If you have a blown thermal fuse, it can interrupt the cycle progress during the wash. To replace the thermal fuse:

  • Disconnect your dishwasher from the power outlet.
  • Unscrew the panel and remove the control panel cover.
  • Bring out the blown fuse and replace it with a new one.
  • Cover the board and screw it in place.
  • Run your dishwasher and check if it is running smoothly.

How Do I Reset My LG Dishwasher?

Occasionally, errors show up on your LG dishwasher. You can clear these glitches by resetting the appliance.

It should be the first thing you need to do once you notice any issues with your LG dishwasher. To reset your LG dishwasher:

  • Disconnect your dishwasher from the power source or turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher and wait for 10 seconds.
  • Switch your dishwasher; start the button off.
  • The machine would clear its previously-stored memory during the wait.
  • Connect the dishwasher to the power outlet or turn it on if you switch off the circuit breaker.
  • Switch the start button back on and start a new cycle.
  • Ensure the machine is running smoothly.

An alternative way to reset an LG dishwasher is to disconnect the dishwasher from the power source and wait for it to dry for about 48 hours.

Then, connect the dishwasher to the power outlet and check if the machine is running without pausing mid-cycle.

Does an LG Dishwasher Have a Reset Button?

Unlike some dishwashers, the LG dishwasher does not have a reset button. Though, there are some steps you can take to reset your LG dishwasher.

Your dishwasher generates error codes that might require you to reset your dishwasher. Resetting it clears the errors and gets your dishwasher running normally.

To reset your LG dishwasher:

  • Unplug the dishwasher from the power source or switch the circuit breaker off for 10 seconds.
  • Connect it back or switch the circuit breaker back on.
  • Switch on the dishwasher power button and run it on empty.

Conclusion

LG dishwashers are durable, but occasionally, glitches can occur. Your washer stops mid-cycle due to different faults, like a defective electronic control board, a loose or broken lid latch, or a faulty thermostat.

If your washer stops mid-cycle, try resetting your machine before resorting to other solutions. If these faults are too complex for you to resolve, employ the services of a qualified technician.
